Humble Beginnings
by Neil Alvarez
How It All Started
After two years of development, the gadget finally came to life. He burned his hands and faced the sharp smell of solder. He handcrafted about 16 prototypes, testing and refining the circuit boards by hand. Despite not being an engineer, he devoted immense time and effort to create this complex device. Its sole purpose? To sharpen your awareness and energize your body when you use it correctly.
People often ask if this is really possible. He assures them that the device holds the answer. All you need to do is wear it, and you'll feel the difference for yourself.
Cor Labz Technology
Cor Labz Technology started with humble beginnings. Neil Alvarez, intrigued by human movement, discovered a fascinating concept: why do individuals with disabilities sometimes exhibit greater strength than able-bodied athletes? Years of coaching led him to an essential realization—stability is the foundation of strength. Neil found that the core plays a critical role in performance, even more so than arms or legs.
Neil also noticed that the mind often seeks knowledge more eagerly than the body pursues action. Thinking is easier than doing, and while we may juggle multiple ideas, simple tasks are often overlooked. When it's time to act, we sometimes falter. Movement, Neil realized, is simpler than we imagine; the body works in patterns. However, overwhelming the brain with excessive information can hinder action. Neil focused on diagnosing and enhancing movements to improve performance, staying true to his biomechanics expertise rather than venturing into psychology.
In early 2017, Neil began simplifying the connection between thought and movement. He developed and copyrighted the R9017 joint pattern—a breakthrough in biomechanics that boosts stability and explosive power. Using evidence-based practices (EBP), he observed rapid improvements in athletes and patients alike. These patterns became integral to his Neuromotor Training approach.
Neil’s work extended to athletes worldwide, where he analyzed golf movements, refined swings using two baskets, and emphasized the importance of clear communication. This experience now enriches the story behind the launch of a revolutionary golf device.
He Kept His Mouth Shut About R9017
Neil took his expertise to a new level by training professional athletes more seriously with the R9017 joint pattern. As a neuromotor trainer, his primary focus was on improving movement efficiency and biomechanics, rather than coaching tactics or strategies. While professional players valued his methods for boosting athletic performance, coaches often viewed him as a potential threat. To clarify his unique role in sports training, Neil began delivering lectures on neuromotor techniques and biomechanics.
In 2017, Neil met Tomaz Mencinger, an engineer and tennis coach, at a professional conference. They discussed common tennis stroke challenges, tennis biomechanics, and how to improve athletic performance. Their collaboration led to The No Thought Tennis Biomechanics program. This training system features specific exercises based on R9017 patterns to enhance tennis strokes for players at all levels. Sold online and popular worldwide, the program became a game-changer for recreational players facing movement challenges. Neil regarded Tomaz as a mentor and a guiding force, helping him refine his methods.
Neil expanded his influence by lecturing for the GPTCA organization, working with tennis legends Alberto Castellani and Toni Nadal. He was the first to introduce Sport Biomechanics to their curriculum. However, Neil noticed that providing too much information often overwhelmed athletes and tennis coaches. This insight led him to simplify tennis training solutions to reduce stress and improve player performance. He emphasized that overloading athletes with complex details could cause inconsistent results, and saving “brain space” is essential for peak performance.
Neil stressed that athletes need to focus on dynamic movement patterns rather than overthinking during play. He observed that ATP Pro Coaches often minimize verbal instructions during practice, offering concise and effective guidance instead. Coaches like Ivan Ljubicic embody this quiet yet impactful approach, showcasing their understanding of professional-level play. However, Neil also acknowledged the challenges faced by less-skilled players who require consistent feedback. On the court, athletes juggle countless decisions about where and how to hit the ball. Neil highlighted the importance of delivering instruction strategically rather than overloading players like a “B52 bomber,” dropping too much information at once while the receiver at the end try to catch them all.
Everyone Seeks Fame and Recognition
Not everyone on a team can wear every hat. One moment you’re a coach; the next, you’re stepping into the role of a doctor or nutritionist. Even Einstein never claimed expertise in nuclear physics; otherwise, he might have overshadowed Oppenheimer in creating the bomb. As Neil Alvarez puts it, “When I train people, I see them as my bosses. My job is to support and improve them, whether they’re 7 or 70. It’s their story, not mine.”
Alvarez viewed his role in sports as one of service—helping others succeed. He noticed a disconnect between trainers, coaches, doctors, and other professionals who should collaborate to optimize athletes' performance. In successful sports clubs, teamwork was the backbone of winning. Alvarez questioned why this model couldn’t be replicated more widely. Athletes need to reach peak performance quickly and sustain it over time, without training to the point of injury. He understood that rigid role definitions often created unnecessary tension. Instead, Alvarez believed that focusing solely on the athlete’s success allows their achievements to speak for the team.
The Bored Creatures
Coaches spoke in hushed tones, revealing an uncomfortable truth: opinions ran rampant, and some felt threatened by his expertise. Yet, Neil Alvarez was careful not to overstep his boundaries; his mission was clear—support athletes in unlocking their full potential. His approach was simple yet impactful: he always began by asking athletes what their coach expected in their position, using this as the foundation for personalized training.
Athletes often carry immense mental burdens stemming from sports politics, academics, and family obligations. These stressors can create a domino effect, culminating in a crushing sense of overwhelm. For many, the mounting pressures feel like a collapsing castle, leaving them to grapple with severe physical and emotional strain. Despite this, Alvarez’s focus remained steadfast. Fame held no allure for him; his sole purpose was to uplift athletes. But the question persisted: how could he help them navigate such an intricate web of challenges?
Neil Paused
For a time, Neil stepped away from the world of sports and returned to rehabilitation work. While helping patients, he couldn’t resist keeping an eye on sports. Living in Europe, where athletes of all ages are abundant, sports surrounded him wherever he went. Yet, watching these athletes brought him a deep sense of frustration. He saw incredible potential in many of them, but their inability to fully optimize their physical capabilities weighed heavily on his mind.
The Wanna-Be Magnetic Booster Belt
In February 2022, Neil set out to enhance athletes' performance and alleviate the stress of physical tasks, drawing from his expertise in sports and rehabilitation. Through his experiences, he realized that overwhelming the brain often backfires, causing more harm than good. This insight led to the creation of the Magnetic Booster Belt.
Neil collaborated with his friend Tomaz Mencinger, a seasoned tennis coach and engineer, who served as the test subject for the device. While the Magnetic Booster Belt seemed promising in concept, its magnetic mechanism posed challenges—it was always active, even during simple movements, and ultimately failed to deliver meaningful results.
Despite its shortcomings, the device marked a pivotal moment in Neil’s journey. The experiment inspired a new hypothesis: how could techniques be optimized by leveraging the body itself as a source of stability and power? This realization sparked further innovation.
The Device Came Alive
On August 12, 2024, the final prototype was completed. This was more than just a tool for testing athlete performance—it became a bridge between coaches and athletes, fostering mutual understanding and enhancing the benefits for both. The device allowed coaches to connect with their athletes during training sessions on a deeper level. By placing a strong emphasis on the core, it highlighted the critical role of the trunk in stabilizing and strengthening the limbs.
Neil also incorporated the R9017 joint pattern, previously copyrighted, into this innovative biomechanical gadget. This integration brought his earlier work into focus, turning the device into a game-changing tool for athletic training and performance optimization.
